Caffeine

INCI / botanical name: Caffeine

Evidence level:Emerging human evidence

Caffeine isn't just for your morning cup. In skincare it's used to refresh tired-looking eyes, and in hair care to support the scalp. SHIFAH uses it in eye, face and hair formulas.

What it does

Refreshing active: caffeine passes into the skin easily and is used to help reduce the look of puffiness and tired-looking skin. In hair care it's used in scalp-focused formulas.

What the research says

Reviews describe caffeine's high biological activity and its ability to pass through the skin barrier, which is why it's widely used in cosmetics. A 2025 systematic review looked at clinical evidence for caffeine in cosmetic products for hair shedding.

Limitations, honestly

Clinical evidence for under-eye puffiness is limited, and hair studies vary in design. These studies don't show results for SHIFAH products themselves.
