Islamic heritage
There is no specific Quran or Hadith reference to rice water. "Sunnah" in our range name reflects the Sunnah botanicals in the formulas, such as black seed and olive oil.
Traditional use Traditional use
Traditional use: court ladies of Japan's Heian period are recorded washing their long hair with yu-su-ru, the water left from rinsing rice.
What the research says
A Japanese laboratory study of rice rinse water (yu-su-ru) on hair fibres found it reduced surface friction and increased hair elasticity.
Limitations, honestly
The research was done on hair fibres in a laboratory, not on people's scalps, and it doesn't show hair growth. SHIFAH hair products haven't been clinically tested for these outcomes.
