What it does

Gentle cleansing botanical: sidr leaf powder naturally contains saponins, plant compounds that create a light lather and help lift away dirt and oil.

Islamic heritage

Quran 53:14 mentions Sidrat al-Muntaha, "the lote tree of the utmost boundary". Quran 34:16 also mentions lote trees.
Hadith: the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed that his daughter be washed "with water and sidr". (Sahih al-Bukhari 1253. Authentic.)

Traditional use Traditional use

Traditional use: sidr leaves have been used across Arabia and North Africa for washing the hair and body for generations.

What the research says

Laboratory and formulation research describes sidr's saponins and antioxidant compounds, and sidr has been tested as a natural foaming agent in an all-herbal shampoo.

Limitations, honestly

There are few human studies of sidr on skin. Its use rests mostly on long tradition and laboratory work, so we describe it as a cleansing botanical, not a proven treatment.
